Andrew James

Oh, How I Love You!

I loved you when you tucked me in, and helped me go to bed

I loved you when you woke me up and kissed my curly head.

I loved you when you spoke a lot and had so much to say

I love you now your voice is soft and you simply look my way.

I loved you when you held me up, so safely in your arms

I love you now that you hold my hand, for its you to keep from harm.

I loved you when I was so little, so loud but still so small

I love you now that I’m just as loud, but stronger and so tall.

I’ve always loved it, how the earth stands still, when you simply speak my name

Your presence and your voice, my love, are greater than any fame.

So if I climb the highest mountain and see the ocean blue

I will not think of sharks and fish, just your eyes and only you.

Though I don’t know how long we’ll be here, or when we’ll ever part

I can tell you that for all my days, I’ll carry you in my heart.

Yet I speak of all this love, and not in the way that you think.

For my love for you is not see in my eyes, though it does give them some tears

I do not think it in my mind nor hear it in my ears.

I can’t even say, though I try and try to feel it very hard

In the beats and pitter patters, of my beating, thumping heart.

I love you with my soul…

For when my eyes can’t see, and ears don't hear

For when my heart stops it beats and my mind disappears.

I will go on loving you…

I loved you when my life began, and long after it ends

Here, there, and everywhere, into the unknown.

For my Great-Grandma Loretta, with all my love Andrew (AJ)
